Mishpacha Project

For this assignment, we were told to create a presentation to show and explain our family’s history and origin from the paternal and maternal sides of our family, as well as go into a deep description of where and when my family did important things. I learned so much about my family from this project, for example, I now know that many parts of my family immigrated from Europe and Russia. Others didn’t immigrate and were born in Canada. I learned about when and how my great-great-grandparents lived, what jobs they had, where they worked, when they were born, and when they died. One of my great-great-grandparents even perished in a housefire. If I were to do this again I would improve my detail on where family members lived and where they immigrated from, as well as practice reading it more.

What’s The Matter ( Oil Tankers )

Introduction

What’s the matter project was a project where we researched and learned about some man-made disasters. I chose to do oil tankers because it seems really bad for the environment. I was interested in how it affected the environment. I researched it and found most of my information from google. Oil is a big part of Canada as we use it every day for example we use gas for cars and heating up our home.

My Project:

The oil comes from beneath the ground. It is made of dead animal and plant matter, buried deep under layers of sedimentary rock. Pressure and heat cause oil deposits to form over long periods of time.

These bacteria break the oil into carbon dioxide and water. Some will evaporate (moving the pollution from water to air).

None of this information was surprising, most of it I already knew.

Wonder Choice Board Activity

This is my right up about Treacher Collins syndrome:

30 Points Question: Treacher Collins syndrome is a disorder that causes the ears, eyes, cheekbones, and chin to appear deformed. The severity may be different for different people. Things that could happen include breathing problems, problems seeing, cleft palate, and hearing problems. People who have it usually have normal intelligence. Treacher Collins syndrome cannot be cured. Diagnosis is based on X-rays and possibly genetic testing. Symptoms can be overcome by reconstructive surgery, hearing aids, speech therapy, and other devices.

Treacher Collins syndrome is caused by genetic mutations. Below is an image of the pattern of gene codes of this syndrome.

Image From Wikipedia

The percent of the world that has this syndrome is estimated to be between 1 in 10,000-50,000 individuals in the general population. One of the sad things about having a facial deformity is that a person is more likely to get bullied.

Fortunately, people with this condition do have a normal life span, as long as they maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Thank You!

UBC Bottle Cap

What  gets wasted 300 Million times a year? If you guessed plastic you are correct! You don’t need to throw out plastic when you’re done using it. You can make something out of it for example. I have created a new kind of bottle cap that is easier and more useful than normal ones. It’s called U.B.C. It stands for Useful Bottle Cap. It is called U.B.C because it is more useful than normal bottle caps. You should DEFINITELY buy my U.B.C bottle cap

You are definitely missing out if you’re not buying it. It is a real life changer. You can use it on any kind of bottle, just get the kind that is perfect for you! It opens better, it closes better, and it even has a smaller chance to spill, unlike normal bottle caps. I don’t know why people throw out plastic when you could make something out of it.

People don’t care about wasting plastic, it’s ruining the environment and killing sea creatures. We have to stop. The way to do that is NOT by throwing out plastic when you’re done with it. Make something out of it, do something   useful with it. I could tell you so many reasons why you should not throw out plastic but I will be going on forever.

All I’m saying is that people should stop throwing plastic out, it makes no sense why they would and we need them to stop. If you’re someone who throws out plastic, you are killing the ocean and it’s not fair. WE HAVE TO MAKE A CHANGE!
